Company History

Since manufacturing China’s first heavy-duty truck, SINOTRUK has never stopped forging ahead with innovation.

1960

The Birth of a Heavy-Duty Pioneer

The Huanghe JN150 8T truck is successfully manufactured. This marked a massive milestone for China’s automotive industry. The Huanghe JN150 was China's first domestically produced heavy-duty truck, breaking the country's long-standing reliance on imported heavy vehicles and laying the foundational brick for Sinotruk's manufacturing legacy.

Global Technology Integration (Steyr Partnership)

China's first Steyr truck rolls off the assembly line. Looking to modernize its fleet, the company introduced advanced heavy-duty truck technology from Steyr-Daimler-Puch (an Austrian manufacturer). This project was a major national initiative that fundamentally upgraded China's entire heavy-duty truck manufacturing standard, bringing technology like engines, axles, and chassis up to global standards.

The Dawn of the HOWO Era

Introduction of the HOWO Series heavy-duty trucks. The launch of the HOWO brand marked the beginning of the convergence of China's heavy-duty vehicle industry with international markets. Engineered with a focus on driver comfort, reliability, and power, the HOWO series rapidly became a massive commercial success both domestically and as a primary export vehicle.

Strategic Alliance with MAN

SINOTRUK and MAN enter into a historic strategic cooperation agreement. German truck giant MAN acquired a 25% plus one share stake in Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited. This massive partnership initiated deep, multi-level cooperation across complete vehicle platforms, engine tech (introducing the MAN D08, D20, and D26 engines), chassis, and axles, cementing Sinotruk’s position as a premium global competitor.

Since entering the Philippine market in 2011, SINOTRUK has maintained a leading position in the heavy-duty truck industry.

Completion of China's exclusive National Heavy-duty Automotive Engineering Technology Research Center. With this cutting-edge R&D center fully operational, Sinotruk consolidated its technical superiority. Sinotruk’s Driverless Electric Truck makes its debut at Tianjin Port. Stepping firmly into the future of logistics, Sinotruk showcased its commitment to green energy and smart technology. The deployment of autonomous, pure-electric container trucks marked a world-first in commercial port automation.

The Next-Gen Huanghe Revived

Sinotruk unveils its next-generation Huanghe heavy-duty truck in Ji’nan. Paying homage to its 1960 roots, the legendary ""Huanghe"" (Yellow River) brand was reborn. Combining advanced local R&D with international cutting-edge technologies, this ultra-streamlined flagship truck boasts world-class aerodynamics, intelligent driving features, and ultra-low fuel consumption.
